What Is Work-Life Balance?
One benefits of freelancing is the fact that you will be given the ability to work from home at your own time and this is one thing that makes freelancing better than your office jobs.
You get to work at home in your comfort zone and this makes it very hard for someone to leave their work as they are not working in an office.
But what exactly is work-life balance? It’s the amount of time one spends both at work and in pursuit of personal activities such as hobbies, meeting up with friends, and family time.
It’s important to remember that work-life balance isn’t simply something for working parents — if you work, you really should try to look for some form of work-life balance.
Why Is Work-Life Balance Important?
While you might believe that putting in long hours will help you finish the job, experts now say that this is actually counterproductive.
Because we are only human, we will eventually get tired from working too hard.
Have you ever noticed that you perform at your best when you are feeling energised, alert, and rested?
The issue with having a poor work-life balance is that it affects both our health and the quality of the work we produce.
Numerous health problems, including the following, have been linked in studies to ongoing overwork, including:
• Compromised immune system, which means you fall sick more often.
• Constantly feeling tired
• Not being able to fall asleep (insomnia)
• Mental health problems such as anxiety and depression
• Type 2 diabetes and heart disease
What a Healthy Work-Life Balance Looks Like
A Healthy Work Life Balance is simply Meeting work deadlines while still making time for friends and hobbies could be considered a healthy balance. having enough time to eat well and sleep soundly. when you're at home, not to worry about work.
Ways to Have a Great Work-Life Balance as a Freelancer
Freelancing is something which can be used as a side hustle or a full time hustle so this makes it hard for those making it a full time hustle have a perfect work-life balance.
As promised we would be going over some ways which you can have a great work-life balance so make sure you pay attention to this section carefully.
1. Incorporate Vacation Time Into Your Rate
As a freelancer, it's simple to worry that any time you're not working is time you're not making money.
Freelancers frequently do not receive benefits like paid time off or personal leave, which makes it very challenging to justify taking a well-earned break.
Many independent contractors base their hourly rate choice on their desired annual income and anticipated number of working hours.
Simply add the number of hours you anticipate taking time off when calculating the number of hours you anticipate working.
2. Work Fixed Hours
We don't mean working the standard weekday schedule of 9 to 5 as one might anticipate from someone employed in an office.

Therefore, the majority of them will understand if you do take a while to respond to an email, especially outside of regular business hours, that it's just you taking some time off.
4. Time Management Is Key
It can occasionally be challenging for people who work from home to become motivated or establish a regular routine.
Yes, working for yourself and choosing your own hours can result in many mornings of indulging in snooze time and afternoons of binge-watching television.
But when a deadline looms, you'll unavoidably find yourself staying up late to finish a task.
Such a way of working is a surefire way to quickly become stressed out, if not burned out.
If this is a persistent problem, think about working with a life coach or therapist who has experience treating burnout.
They can assist you in putting practices into place that will improve your long-term game.
Despite being your own boss, you still need to use your time effectively and, ideally, establish some sort of routine.
Start each day at roughly the same time, and schedule breaks for the duration of the day.
Since working freelance is all about having the flexibility to do other things, you don't have to adhere to the schedule every day, but you should make an effort to do so.
